Social Media Detox

Had a listen to Cal Newport’s podcast on social media apps and what they are robbing us of as a people.

And the man told no lies.

I had previously read his book, Digital Minimalism and taken a short break off SM. However I now think I need a longer (possibly permanent?) break.

Twitter (a platform on which I previously had 2,000 followers) has to go. Luckily I had managed to wean myself of the dopamine fuelled validation seeking addiction by having only 38 followers and a locked profile for the past year .

Now it’s time to bin the app, along with instagram, EBay (erm…) and Facebook (I will only use it to post something on the Corneal Dystrophy support group via a desktop or laptop).

Now, let us see how my health does with the planned changes.
